Irish Prison Service, College Portlaoise

IPS College in Portlaoise is the national residential training centre for the Irish Prison Service staff. It is also used for specialist training by other security & state agencies. Because of its central geographic location, the campus also acts as a central hub for the service for meetings and flexi-working.

DMOD were tasked in 2016, as part of an invited competition, with the reorganisation & extension of the administrative functions of the college.

DMOD have delivered a new administration building comprising open plan offices and a suite of offices & meeting rooms. The building also acts as a hub building for the service and one of it’s primary points of interface with internal & external stakeholder groups.

The design marks the move to more contemporary workspace for staff and also seeks to present a more progressive and open identity for the campus as part of the evolving culture of the Irish Prison Service.
