Dublin Bookshop

DMOD were commissioned by Dubray Books to design their new premises when they moved to a larger 550 sqm. retail unit at 36 Grafton Street. The challenge in a narrow Grafton street plan was to ensure the high retail volumes at ground level could be accommodated while introducing new circulation patterns to maximise the retail usage of the upper floors.

The introduction of a large double height, light-filled volume at the uppermost level also serves as a draw to customers and the creation of a highly successful retail environment at all levels. Innovative fire engineering solutions were employed to create a central top-lit circulation void running the entire height of the building encouraging customer movement through the building. DMOD were also involved in the design of the bespoke joinery throughout the premises, tailored to our clients detailed specification.
