DMOD offices in New Street have been designed on sustainable principles.
Taking a conventional office building DMOD introduced automatic opening vents, (AOV’s) in the curtain wall and low velocity mechanical venting to pull air across an exposed concrete slab. The thermal mass of the exposed concrete structure provides a heat sink which equalises the temperature in winter and summer. During the summer, for instance, the AOV’s open at night-time to cool the concrete slab providing cooling during the daytime. The elimination of the false ceiling increases the floor to ceiling height allowing increased use of natural light and more efficient use of artificial light.
