Fernhill Development Proposals
DMOD were approached in 2011 to assist the client to review his development options for this property, which comprised of 72 acres, of which half is an established deciduous forest. There are a number of existing structures on the site including a rambling turreted house and also several simple structures around an existing cottage garden, some of which are occupied.
The study was to develop and illustrate the clients intention to propose an ambitious scheme, which combined an International “sculpture garden” set within the forest, the regeneration of a working cottage garden together with a retail component of appropriate scale, and the introduction of a unique low density residential scheme of the lands to the rear of the site. This proposal was developed and presented to Local Councillors to garner their support. However the principles of this scheme nor a reworked more modest proposal could not be agreed – the project for now is on hold.
